"Sunflower Sketch"

Today was my first day to sub so I didn't get to "paint" like I would normally have done, but I did take my watercolor kit (wish the paints were a better quality) and decided on my free period to do the picture that Dana Marie posted...so this is the watercolor sketch of the sunflower. Hopefully I'll be able to paint it or collage it before the deadline is up...

Week 40 - 41 ~ Silhouettes

"Loves Gives us a Fairy Tale "

by
RekindledMe

I finished this collage piece and thought I would share it here! I just love the picture that you posted for this week! The scene is very peaceful and reminds me of autumn, my favorite time of the year, where everything is getting ready to 'sleep' for awhile! Very relaxing! The verse from this collage piece (this is a picture of a small portion of the collage) reads, 'Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairy tale."

"Once Upon a War Time"
Photographed
by
Dana Marie

This photo was taken Fort Stevens in Oregon. We used to take walks through here often when we lived in Astoria, however, my son was young and didn't recall going so when we were up that way last weekend we decided to visit it again.
By the way, can anyone spot the odd looking old man in the wall? Or is it just me? *wink*
I hope he... I mean, it inspires you! *grin*

No special story behind this one other than I liked Dana Marie's story. Not to mention I love flowers and gardening.

This photograph was taken of a portion of my 11 year old son's garden that he planted. This part of his garden was a bag of seeds called "Fairy Garden". It has bloomed just beautifully and each day there is new flowers to view. :) He's enjoyed his first real gardening experience immensely!

I know this is sort of an "odd" composition and layout, however, there is something very intriqueing about it, to me, as well.

I hope it inspires you!

Week 36 ~ "Sea of Daisies"

My Garden of Daisies

By Antwanyce Richardson of "TheRichAnt.com"
This piece reminded me of the garden I had at my townhouse. It was filled with daisies and zinnias. I called them button flowers. I love all flowers that are similar to this one.

"Daisies a Plenty" by Saundra Lane Galloway

I decided to combine this week's challenge with my blog contest running for a couple more days this summer. I painted this acrylic on a 4x4" gesso 1/2" board for one of the give-away choices for my contest. To read more click over to my BLOG. And...as I've said in other posts this morning...can't remember if it would be Daisies or Daisy's...hmmm...thank goodness it doesn't change the painting!

I don't know how many times we have driven the scenic highway, but somehow we have yet found the Vista house. I recall seeing it from below many a times wondering what it was, but it wasn't until last weekend that we drove up there on the way home from visiting Emil's parents in WA. I'll have to post the few pictures of the view I got...it's just amazing! Perhaps the next challenge. ;)

Week 31 to 32 ~ Secret Garden

Lupins (12x19, soft pastel on black paper)

Thanks Dana Marie for another great challenge! Sorry this took so long.

Two Palms by Saundra Lane Galloway

Dana and I have already had a chuckle from this offering I have, and so we decided it would be good to post this. You may have noticed it doesn't look ANYTHING like the photograph inspiration this time around. No, you don't have to adjust your screen...it IS a painting of two palm trees. I tried to paint the flowers and greenery three times and somehow this was what I finally ended up with. I finally decided not to fight what obviously wanted to be palm trees! It isn't my normal style, but I have often said how healthy it is to do something completely experimental. I believe it clears the brain of all those dusty cobwebs and fills one up with fresh creativity! Sounds good doesn't it! :) So, this little 6"x9" canvas on panel is for your enjoyment!

Brown Horse

Brown Horse (10x10, Inktense Pencil and water wash)

Lori Forester

I had to try and draw this lovely horse that Dana Marie photographed. I think unfortunately I made the horse a little heavier that she is in reality. The painting is done with Inktense watercolour pencils on Stonhenge paper with water washes. I built the colours up in layers of purple, red and yellow underpainting and then added the top brown layers at the end.
Thanks Dana Marie for the great challenge and can't wait for the next one.
